Day 1

Start - Munich - Sudelfeld - Bruck an der Großglocknerstraße

This time, we made our way to the beautiful Sudelfeld. There, we got to watch a mountain rescue exercise and enjoy a delicious meal. The road to the top is quite narrow, and it's not uncommon to encounter cows on the way.

 

We then headed on to Bruck an der Großglocknerstraße to Haus Maria Bruck. A great starting point to continue on to the Großglockner.

 

Day 2

Bruck an der Großglocknerstraße - Großglockner - Tiefgraben

The next morning we set off on the Grossglockner High Alpine Road in semi-favourable weather. However, thankfully, the weather was absolutely amazing later on!

 

The toll road spans 48 kilometres from Fusch to Heiligenblut am Großglockner, winding through 36 hairpin. The highest accessible point is at 2,571 metres above sea level at Edelweiss-Spitze, which is reached via a cul-de-sac.

Day 3

Tiefgraben - Irrsee - Home

We spent our last night at the lovely Pension Zenzlgut. They had a huge selection of regional products for breakfast, which was a real treat!

From there we travelled past the beautiful Irrsee, Mondsee and Attersee lakes back towards Germany. As so often before, we spent the end of our journey at a chapel on a hill watching the sunset.
