Setting Off
We began our journey full of excitement, not knowing the exact path ahead but eager for the adventure. The sky was overcast, hinting at the rain that was to come. Our spirits were high, and we were ready to face whatever the journey had in store for us.
Tillyschanz: The Rain Begins
As we reached Tillyschanz, the rain began in earnest. The charming starting point quickly became a wet and slippery challenge. The sound of raindrops on our jackets and the splash of puddles became our constant companions. The rain added a new dimension to the landscape, making everything look more vibrant and alive.
Through Málkov (Přimda)
Our journey continued to Málkov (Přimda), where the old church nestled in the forest greeted us. The rain gave everything a mystic flair, enhancing the sense of adventure and discovery.
Nové Sedliště (Staré Sedliště)
Next, we made our way to Nové Sedliště (Staré Sedliště). The quaint town, with its cobblestone streets and historic buildings, seemed to embrace the rain. Despite the weather, the beauty of the place was undiminished. The fields and forests around us thrived under the downpour, their colors deepened and enriched by the rain. We visited the memorial for a plane accident, where a CESSNA 19 and MIG 19 tragically crashed together, adding a somber yet meaningful stop to our journey.
Seeing Hrad Přimda
The ancient castle of Hrad Přimda, perched on a hill, was shrouded in mist, giving it a mystical aura. Due to the rain, we decided not to climb it, but its presence added a sense of history and grandeur to our adventure.
The Final Stretch: Cheb/Eger
The final leg of our journey took us to a small town near Cheb/Eger. By this time, we were soaked, but our spirits remained high. The rain had become a part of our adventure, each drop a reminder of our journey's challenges and triumphs. Cheb/Eger welcomed us with its historic charm and warm hospitality, a perfect end to our rainy journey.
Reflections on first day
Traveling 247 kilometers through rain and shine taught us invaluable lessons. We learned the importance of preparation and resilience. The rain, instead of being a hindrance, became a character in our story, adding depth and texture to our adventure.
Despite the discomforts, the journey was filled with moments of beauty and connection. Each town we passed through, each hill we climbed, was a testament to the enduring allure of exploration. The rain, far from dampening our spirits, enriched our experience, making every sight and sound more vivid.
Rain or shine, the spirit of exploration never falters. So, next time you find yourself facing a rainy day, remember that the best adventures often come from embracing the unexpected. Who knows? You might find that the rain adds just the right touch of magic to your journey.
